I was fortunate in 1995 to be able to visit the Rossing Foundation and their agricultural development projects, courtesy of the then director, David Godfrey.  Here are s ome of  the places he showed me.

One of a meteorite shower that landed in Windhoek and is now displayed in the middle of the shopping centre.

The Hoba meteorite, supposedly the largest ever found, now weighing an estimated 60 tons, butshowing obvious signs of having been cut up previously.

This strange looking device is a platform for seabirds to roost and nest on – this is the famous Skeleton Coast, an enormous stretch of sand.  The birds would use these platforms to nest because there is nowhere else, then their droppings could be harvested as “guano” or phosphate fertiliser
